Elementary School Physical Education Teacher

Dar Essalam American School (DAS) in Rabat, Morocco, is seeking an Elementary School Physical Education Teacher to join its international team starting in August 2027. The role involves creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for students from PK3 through Grade 5 to develop movement skills, physical confidence, teamwork, and healthy habits.

Main Tasks

Teaching and Learning

• Plan and deliver progressive units and lessons based on the approved PE curriculum.
• Develop fundamental movement skills, coordination, balance, fitness, and game understanding through age-appropriate activities, dance, and rhythmic movement.
• Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and communicate progress against agreed expectations.
• Adapt activities and equipment alongside support staff to ensure accessibility for all learners.

Students and School Culture

• Build a culture of belonging, effort, and fair play while maintaining clear routines and active supervision.
• Adhere to safeguarding, professional boundaries, health and safety, and incident reporting procedures.

Collaboration and Community

• Collaborate with homeroom teachers and specialists to connect PE with classroom learning.
• Contribute to after-school sports, clubs, and school events.
• Build respectful relationships with parents and caregivers regarding student learning and wellbeing.\n- Maintain organized facilities and coordinate resource needs with school leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Sports Science, Education, or a related field.
• Recognized teaching qualification appropriate for elementary classes.
• Proven experience teaching PE to elementary students, including an understanding of children's physical, social, and emotional development.
• Strong English communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and ongoing professional learning.
• Early Childhood teaching experience is desirable.
• Preference for candidates with experience in gymnastics, swimming, dance, and rhythmic movement, as well as the ability to coach sports after school.
• Relevant swimming instruction, coaching, first aid/CPR, or lifesaving qualifications are desirable.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in international or culturally diverse environments.
• Familiarity with technology-based educational solutions.
• Proficiency in French and/or Arabic is an advantage.
