BOKU UNIVERSITY The Department of Agricultural Sciences, Institute of Vegetables and Ornamentals is currently seeking a 1 Postgraduate Research Associate Temporary Replacement (Reference code 50) Extent of employment: 20 hours per week Duration of employment: as of now, limited to 30th of September 2028 Workplace: 1180 and 1210 Vienna Allocation in compliance with the Collective Agreement for University Staff to job group: B1 Gross monthly salary: (depending on previous eligible experience) at least: € 1.888,10 (payable 14 times per year) Responsibilities º Research and publication in the field of horticulture with a focus on stress physiology and control options for the target quality (quality on demand) of herbs, spices, aquatic plants, and medicinal plants in various cultivation systems º Planning and conducting experiments in greenhouse and in the field, including data collection and statistical evaluation º Analyses of growth media and plants º Activities in the field of quality-enhancing measures and plant physiology º Collaboration in interdisciplinary areas of expertise º Contribution to the development of the Institute of Vegetables and Ornamentals and the Department of Agricultural Sciences º Presentation of the results at national and international conferences and events º Writing scientific publications and publishing the results in scientific journals, as well as active participation in (inter)national conferences with the aim of obtaining a doctoral degree º Support in teaching and practice, development of teaching materials and funding applications Required skills and qualifications º Diploma degree in Horticulture, agricultural sciences, biology, biochemistry or other equivalent university degree º Language skills: very good written and spoken English º Ability to work independently and as part of a team º Experience in laboratory analysis (wet chemistry, non-destructive, sensory) º Basic knowledge of data analysis º Willingness and ability to work in an interdisciplinary team, especially when dealing with problems with a physiological background º Didactic skills Desirable skills and qualifications º Organisational skills º Knowledge of German level at least B2 highly desirable º Practical experience in horticulture º Experience abroad, especially in the field of horticulture º Experience in publishing or presenting scientific results to national and international audiences º Supervision experience in the subject-relevant area º Drivers licence class B Applications can be submitted until: 1st of April 2026 University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna seeks to increase the number of its female faculty and staff members.
