BOKU UNIVERSITY The Department of Biotechnology and Food Science, Institute of Bioprocess Science and Engineering is currently seeking a 1 Postgraduate Research Associate project employment (Reference code 35) Extent of employment: 30 hours per week Duration of employment: from July 2026, limited to December 2027 (with option for temporary extension) Workplace: 1190 Vienna, Muthgasse 18 Allocation in compliance with the Collective Agreement for University Staff to job group: B1 Gross monthly salary: (depending on previous eligible experience) at least: € 2.832,10 (payable 14 times per year) Responsibilities º PhD thesis º Project work (reporting, internal presentations and presentations to industry partner) º Co-supervision of Bachelor / Master students Required skills and qualifications º Diploma degree in biotechnology, molecular biology, cell biology or other equivalent university degree º Language skills: English C1 / German A1 or willingness to learn º Hands-on experience with nucleic acid analytics, such as PCR / ddPCR, gel electrophoresis, or sequencing-based methods º Familiarity with protein analytics (e.g. chromatography, electrophoresis, ELISA); experience with mass spectrometry is an advantage º Experience or strong interest in method development, optimization, and validation º Ability to integrate and interpret data from orthogonal analytical techniques Desirable skills and qualifications º Basic understanding of viral vectors, protein complexes, or biologics and their quality attributes º lnterest in data analysis and statistics (e.g. Excel, R, Python, or similar tools) º Strong problem-solving skills and attention to experimental detail º Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in an interdisciplinary research environment Applications can be submitted until: 22nd of February 2026 University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna seeks to increase the number of its female faculty and staff members.
