Senior Lecturer in Electrical Engineering

The School of Smart Solutions is seeking a Senior Lecturer in Electrical Engineering with expertise in the energy transition School of Smart Solutions educates future professionals in electrical and automation engineering, electronics and robotics, energy and environmental technologies, biotechnology, chemical engineering, and laboratory science. Graduating students will play a vital role in driving sustainable development and providing companies with solutions for climate change mitigation and the green transition. An expert in electrical engineering and the energy transition employed in a permanent position We are looking for an expert who understands the role of electrical engineering in the energy transition and the specific requirements of modern electrical systems. We value strong expertise in electrical networks and a forward-looking perspective on how renewable integration, electrification, and digitalization are transforming the operation and development of power grids from large-scale generation to distribution networks and end-user systems and driving profound changes across the field of electrical engineering. In addition to solid knowledge of the fundamentals of electrical engineering, we appreciate expertise in areas such as smart grids, high-voltage engineering, electricity markets and regulation, smart energy storage, and power grid flexibility, as well as an understanding of how emerging technologies like artificial intelligence can accelerate these transformations. As a Senior Lecturer, we expect you to combine theoretical knowledge with practice, applying your expertise in teaching, laboratory work, and project collaboration at Metropolias Myyrmäki campus, and in active cooperation with companies and other stakeholders in the power and energy sector. Teaching is offered in both Finnish and English. Fluency in Finnish is not required at the start, and we will support you in learning the language. In addition to teaching, the position may also include professional development tasks such as applied research, project collaboration, and company training. Requirements The position requires applicants to have at least Masters degree in the field of technology (MSc/MEng or PhD/ScD/EngD). In addition to that, applicants must have a minimum of three years working experience in the industry. For teaching responsibilities, a Professional Teacher Education qualification is necessary, but it can be acquired during employment. Salary and terms of employment are determined in accordance with collective agreement for universities of applied sciences. Starting salary for Senior Lecturer is approximately between EUR 4500 - 6000 depending on her/his experience and background.
