We are looking for an experienced Project Engineer to take technical responsibility for HVAC systems in demanding shipbuilding projects. In this role, you will manage system design and development from the basic design phase through procurement, approvals, testing, commissioning and production support. You will act as the technical owner and primary specialist for your assigned systems, ensuring that solutions meet project requirements and comply with shipyard, shipowner, authority and classification society standards. The position combines hands-on engineering with multidisciplinary coordination, supplier cooperation and technical decision-making related to quality, functionality and cost. The work will be carried out at our customers' premises in Helsinki or Turku area. Depending on the project, you may also work remotely.

Systems within your scope may include:

  • heating, cooling and air conditioning
  • fire extinguishing systems
  • water treatment systems

Key responsibilities:

  • Take technical ownership of the assigned HVAC system throughout the project and ensure compliance with client, shipyard, authority and classification society requirements.
  • Prepare, maintain, and submit comprehensive technical documentation—including system and piping diagrams, component lists, material information, system descriptions, calculations, and arrangements—for approval by the client, classification society, and relevant authorities.
  • Define equipment, components and materials, prepare technical procurement specifications, evaluate supplier proposals and provide technical support for purchasing.
  • Manage system-related changes and assess their impact on interfaces with other systems.
  • Coordinate with other designers, shipbuilding, production, project personnel and suppliers to ensure functional system interfaces.
  • Prepare test programmes, participate in FAT inspections and technical reviews, and support commissioning.
  • Provide technical support to production and resolve design- and installation-related issues.

What we expect from you:

  • A degree in mechanical engineering, HVAC engineering or another relevant technical field.
  • At least five years of relevant experience in the design or development of one or more of the listed HVAC-related systems.
  • Experience in shipbuilding and an understanding of marine project practices.
  • Knowledge of equipment sizing, system calculations, material and component selection, and technical documentation.
  • Experience working with classification society, authority or client requirements.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or MagiCAD; experience with relevant project, document or material management systems is an advantage.
  • Strong coordination, problem-solving and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Good command of English, Finnish language skills are considered an advantage.
