Assistant Professor in Commercial Law in Helsinki (Tenure Track) The Department of Accounting and Commercial Law at Hanken School of Economics invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Commercial Law (Tenure track). Main responsibilities As an Assistant Professor, you conduct your own research and teach, contributing to the development of research and teaching of the subject. In terms of research, current research areas of the subject include general commercial law, company and financial law, tax law, intellectual property law including data and trade secret laws, sustainability and business law. We publish both journal articles in highly ranked journals as well as books with internationally reputed publishing houses. In addition to the core research areas of business law, the subject hosts an ERC granted interdisciplinary project on agro-biodiversity and indigenous know-how and block chain. In terms of teaching, an assistant professor is expected to contribute to the development of both bachelors and masters program, both in English and Swedish. The assistant professor position is always fixed-term for 5 years with the possibility to apply for an extension of another 2 years. Requirements An assistant professor at Hanken is required to have a doctoral degree in law or in a related field and the potential to conduct high quality research and provide high quality teaching, as well as institutional service and societal impact. Candidates will be reviewed based on their research, teaching, institutional service, and societal impact. The main focus will be on the potential to conduct high-quality scientific research in business law, particularly in the subjects main focus areas, and the potential to provide high-quality teaching in these core areas. Research is the most important of the qualification areas followed by teaching, and then, service and societal impact. Applicants are required to have a fluent command of English. Swedish language skills are considered a merit. Hanken supports international faculty in learning the Swedish language, which serves as the administrative language of the business school.
