Applicants should have a research background in the field of International Relations (IR), with a focus on Conflict and Security Studies and proven ability to teach and supervise across a range of IR topics at the undergraduate and graduate levels. These topics include, but are not limited to, IR Theory, diplomacy, high-tech warfare, European security, and climate security. Candidates should be able to work across a range of research methods and teach courses in research design and methods. We seek a junior scholar with an emerging research and teaching agenda that demonstrates originality, commitment to cross-disciplinary debates, and the potential to address contemporary challenges in global politics. The ideal candidate will complement the existing expertise in the department and should be willing to build bridges across departments. Duties and Responsibilities * Undertaking continuous research activity, reflected in regular publications in high-impact journals and presses as well as participation in international research networks. * Developing and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in conflict and security studies, in research design and methods and/or other courses in International Relations as the department's teaching needs evolve, as well as the supervision of BA, MA, and PhD theses. The department serves a global student population. A firm commitment to inclusive instruction and mentoring for a diverse international student body is expected. * Performing administrative tasks at departmental and university levels. Qualifications * PhD in International Relations, Political Science, or related field in hand by the start of the employment. * A portfolio of publications in high-quality, peer-reviewed international academic outlets. * Teaching experience at undergraduate and/or graduate levels, including thesis supervision and course development. * Demonstrated ability to teach IR theory to BA, MA, and PhD students. * Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team. What CEU Offers We offer a yearly salary starting at 70,000 EUR as well as additional benefits (e.g., pension plan, sabbatical system). The initial contract is for 6 years. The contract is renewable and can be turned into an indefinite contract depending on the outcome of a review.
