Automotive Software Engineer

RENTEQ Automotive is a Danish startup specializing in electrifying diesel machines and vehicles, such as vans, dumpers, and excavators. We are looking for two software engineers to join our R&D team in Dragør. This is a broad profile role where you will work on control software that runs in real vehicles, with the opportunity to see your work tested in the workshop and on the road.

The Job

You will start by learning our system, including vehicle control, software structure, and integration with CAN and hardware. You will then become part of the daily software development, working with both Simulink and C/C++.

Your tasks will include:

• Learning the control software and its interaction with the vehicle
• Flashing and testing software on the bench and in vehicles
• Testing and integrating new components into the system
• Debugging using CAN logs and measurement data
• Developing new features and improving existing ones
• Documenting your work and findings for the team

Requirements

• A degree in software, electronics, mechatronics, automation, or a similar field, OR equivalent experience
• Programming experience in languages such as C, C++, Python, or Matlab
• A curious, adaptable, and fast-learning mindset
• Enjoyment of hands-on work and seeing real-world results
• Good English skills (Danish is an advantage)

Preferred but not required:

• Experience with Simulink or Stateflow
• Knowledge of embedded software or microcontrollers
• Familiarity with CAN bus and tools like PCAN or Vector
• Experience with electric vehicles, batteries, or high voltage systems
• Knowledge of Git
