Laboratory Test Engineer

Role: For our client, we are seeking a Laboratory Test Engineer to strengthen the project engineering team on automation and protection testing, including real-time simulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in power systems, testing, and real-time simulations. The role focuses on designing and implementing automation, protection, and secondary injection tests according to customer specifications. You will be mainly accountable for:

• Designing and implementing automation and protection testing, including hardware-in-the-loop testing for power systems according to customer specifications
• Leading customer approvals and factory testing of distribution protection relays
• Maintaining the customer approval test laboratory in Vaasa
• Productizing the simulation and test offering

Qualifications:

• A B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in electrical or electrical power system engineering or equivalent
• Several years of experience working with power systems and prior experience with electrical installations or a commissioning background
• Prior experience of leading customer approvals or FATs (Factory Acceptance Testing)
• Experience with real-time simulators such as RTDS, Typhoon HIL, or OPAL-RT and relay test devices and amplifiers such as Omicron
• Experience with PSCAD or similar software is a strong benefit
• Good communication and presentation skills, including fluency in English (written and spoken), with Finnish and Swedish language skills being a benefit
