We are now looking for a Technical Development Manager who will take ownership of technical strategy, architecture, and long-term sustainability within the Core and Credits Business Area. **About the role** As Technical Development Manager for Core and Credit, you play a key role in defining and driving the technical direction of the business area. You ensure a modern, scalable, and sustainable system architecture while supporting both strategic and operational initiatives. You report to the Business Area Manager for Core and Credits and have a dotted line to the Chief Technology Officer. The role includes people management responsibility for architects within the Core and Credit Business Area. The position is based in Mariehamn or Helsinki. **Key responsibilities** **Technical strategy and governance** - Define and drive the technical roadmap together with the Core and Credit Business Area Manager and Product Area Managers - Ensure a future-proof, scalable, and cohesive system architecture in collaboration with the Chief Technology Officer - Establish technical guidelines, principles, and standards where not already covered by company-wide frameworks - Drive modernization initiatives and manage technical debt **Collaboration and alignment** - Work closely with Product Area Managers to balance functional needs with technical priorities - Support Project Managers in requirements and design decisions within the architectural framework - Collaborate with Technical Management to translate operational insights into improvement initiatives - Act as a key interface towards the Chief Technology Officer as well as security, process, and quality functions **Technical ownership and delivery** - Act as project owner for technical and architectural initiatives - Ensure that technical decisions, risks, and consequences are clearly communicated - Participate in evaluations of third-party solutions **Leadership and capability development** - Lead, develop, and have line management responsibility for architects within the Core and Credit Business Area - Support and grow technical specialists within the business area - Ensure the right technical capabilities are in place for future needs **Customer and business support** - Support sales, Product Area Managers, and Project Managers in technical customer dialogues and larger business cases - Act as a trusted technical advisor in complex discussions and strategic opportunities **Qualifications and experience** - Proven experience from a senior technical leadership role such as Technical Manager, Lead Architect, or similar - Strong background in system architecture, preferably within complex enterprise environments - Experience defining and driving technical strategies and roadmaps - Solid understanding of modern architectures, integration patterns, and scalable systems - Familiarity with IBM i and RPGLE development environments, including an understanding of the challenges and opportunities involved in modernizing such platforms over time - Experience with major cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and cloud-native architectures - Ability to zoom out and prioritize the overall technical direction over local team interests, especially when navigating competing priorities or cross-team conflicts. - A genuine interest in and positive attitude towards AI-driven ways of working, including the use of AI agents and automation to improve development processes and the SDLC - Ability to balance business needs with long-term technical sustainability - Experience in stakeholder management across multiple functions and seniority levels **Leadership capabilities** - Strong leadership skills with experience managing architects and senior specialists - Experience with people management and team development - Ability to inspire, coach, and develop technical talent - Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly - Structured and strategic mindset combined with a pragmatic, results-oriented approach **Language requirements** - Fluent in English, both written and spoken, is required - Swedish is considered a strong advantage **Why join us** This is an opportunity to take on a central role within Core and Credit with real impact on both technology choices and business development.
