The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Helsinki is looking for a UNIVERSITY LECTURER for the Department of Public Health as of 1 July 2026, for an indefinite teaching-oriented position. The position is part-time (80%). The field of the position is management in health care and the language of instruction is Finnish. About the position The job description includes teaching in the management studies of specialist medicine and specialist dentistry in accordance with the decree as well as in advanced management studies aimed at immediate management qualifications. The teaching provided is blended learning with an emphasis on online teaching. The position may also include the development of the teaching of management studies and other teaching at the multidisciplinary Department of Public Health. Admission requirements According to the Regulations of the University of Helsinki, the applicant is required to have an applicable doctoral degree, as well as the ability to provide high-quality research-based teaching and supervise theses. When assessing the merits of the applicants for the position, scientific publications and other research results that have scientific value are taken into account. The position is teaching-oriented, which is why special emphasis is placed on teaching experience, pedagogical training, the ability to produce learning materials, other merits achieved in the teaching sector and, if necessary, a teaching demonstration. Healthcare management training and pedagogical qualifications are considered an advantage. Successful performance of the task requires comprehensive knowledge of the social and health care system and services and the ability to teach how they work. Practical leadership experience in health care is considered an advantage, and experience in teaching management studies for specialists and dentists, digital pedagogical skills and experience in blended teaching are also particularly valued. Required language skills According to the Decree on Universities, university lecturers are required to be proficient in the language in which they teach, Finnish or Swedish. He or she must have at least satisfactory oral and written skills in Swedish. Successful performance of the position also requires good English language skills. Salary The salary of a university lecturer is based on levels 5–7 of the universities' salary system for teaching and research staff. In addition, a salary component based on personal performance is paid. The person hired for the position has a 6-month trial period. Teaching skills According to the Rector's decision (9.9.2022), the teaching skills of a university lecturer as a whole must be at least at the level of good. When filling the position, the applicants' teaching skills will be assessed, for the assessment of which the applicants must fill in the Faculty's teaching skills assessment form. Teaching skills are assessed with the help of an assessment matrix and a teaching demonstration used by the Faculty of Medicine.
