The position is permanent with a starting date in February 2026 or as soon as agreed. The position is located in Research Platform VEBIC in Vaasa. We are looking for an experienced and motivated Project Manager to lead the execution of sustainable energy solution related EU Horizon projects at the University of Vaasa. In this role, you will manage complex, multidisciplinary projects that focus on innovation in areas such as the marine sector sustainable power train solutions, combustion engine technology and alternative fuels, energy storage solutions and flexible energy resources, as well as energy markets and smart grids. Your role As Project Manager, you will oversee the successful execution of universitys responsibilities in major EU Horizon projects. When University of Vaasa acts as the project coordinator, you will lead the project from initiation to completion, ensuring that timelines, budgets, and deliverables are met. This includes managing collaboration among international partners, industry stakeholders, and research teams, and guaranteeing compliance with EU funding requirements and reporting standards. In projects where university is a partner, your role will focus on managing the execution of designated work packages or tasks, coordinating internal resources, and ensuring that contributions are delivered on time and to the highest quality. Responsibilities - Managing the project execution; ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of assigned tasks and objectives. - Coordinate resources and stakeholders to maintain effective collaboration and communication. - Monitor progress, budgets, and schedules, and address risks proactively. - Prepare required documentation and reports, according to agreements and funding source requirements. - Promote knowledge sharing and continuous improvement in project execution. Qualifications Solid expertise in complex, multi-partner project management is required. Especially EU Horizon (or similar) project experience is appreciated. The ideal candidate holds a Masters degree or higher in engineering—such as mechanical, electrical, or energy technology—or a related field and has proven experience in project management. Other educational backgrounds such as project management/business administration are considered as well, but a strong understanding of energy systems, alternative fuels, or smart grid technologies is essential. Experience working in multidisciplinary environments that combine technology, business, and policy perspectives is highly valued. Excellent communication and leadership skills are required, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders in an international setting. The role requires fluency in English (both written and spoken). Finnish skills is considered an advantage. The salary is based on demand level 9. An additional personal salary component is paid based on the experience and skills of the person selected for the position.
