We are looking forward to a full-time patient kitchen employee (one-year contract, with a real chance of renewal). As a patient kitchen employee, you are responsible for the preparation and distribution of cold dishes for both conventional food and diet food. You distribute and portion cold dishes, soups, vegetables, salads, meats, cheeses and desserts based on print lists. You prepare and label all prepared food. You take samples of each prepared food and register it according to the guidelines. You assist in compiling and distributing the components of the patient meals on the distribution belt. You will help prepare the meal carts for distribution. You portion and label the meals for the night shifts. You will help receive, check and store goods and support the chef during production. You are responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of the workshop, the material used and the environment within the catering department. You strictly follow the HACCP standards and monitor hygiene, safety and food quality. The working hours are between 6:30 am and 4:30 pm (Monday to Friday). Flexibility is requested on weekends if necessary in function of the work. You preferably have experience in a similar position or you have followed a kitchen training. Experience in an industrial kitchen is a great added value. You have knowledge of HACCP. You have a good knowledge of Dutch. You speak fluently, you can read and understand instructions. You are willing to build up product knowledge, and knowledge of materials and equipment. You act according to the core values of Ghent University Hospital: integrity, responsibility and respect. You work accurately according to existing procedures and hygiene and safety regulations. You are a team player and contribute to a collegial atmosphere in which you can be flexible. You have a good physical condition that allows you to work in a changing cold and warm environment. You are able to lift large kettles and do one-sided repetitive actions when filling out the meals.
